Residential Solar Rebates
Efficiency Manitoba, a provincial energy efficiency agency, offers a rebate program for homeowners who install solar power systems on their residential properties. Rebates are available for system sizes of up to 10kw per home installed on or after April 1, 2022.
Homeowners can install solar power systems larger than 10kw; however, the rebate will be capped at 10KW and $5,000 per home. If the equipment cost of your new solar panel system is less than the calculated rebate amount, your rebate will be capped at the lesser of the two amounts.
CANADA GREENER HOME INITIATIVE
In addition to Manitoba's incentives and rebates, there is also the Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan program. This program provides up to $5,000 in grant money to help residential homeowners make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes, including installing solar panels.
The program also offers up to $40,000 in interest-free loans to help homeowners finance these solar projects.
Solar Rebates For Commercial Businesses
Efficiency Manitoba offers a solar energy incentive program for businesses in Manitoba. The program provides rebates of $.50 per direct current (DC) watt installed on buildings connected to Manitoba Hydro’s grid for system sizes of up to 50KW per building for customers that receive pre-approval from
Efficiency Manitoba on or after August 18, 2022. Your solar power system can be larger than 50kw; however, the rebate will be capped at 50kw and $25,000. If the equipment cost of your new solar power system is less than the calculated rebate amount, your rebate will be capped at the lesser of the two amounts.
The program is designed to help businesses reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint by generating their own solar energy.
The program is available for grid-tie solar systems and off grid systems that are designed to generate electricity for the business's own use. To qualify for the program, businesses must meet certain eligibility criteria and submit a completed application form.
